Pollok Grows Together

During 2024-25, Eco Drama will collaborate with community members and organisations in Pollok, Glasgow, to plant a Community Orchard in the grounds of Pollok Community Centre.

Project Summary

During 2024-25, supported in part by the Glasgow Communities and Place fund, we will collaborate with community members of all ages in Pollok, plus orchard specialists, to engage children and their communities through an arts-based approach, leading to the design and planting of a community orchard, plus 20 School Orchards across the city.

Creative Engagement

Activities will include touring Eco Drama’s production The Forgotten Orchard to schools and community audiences to engage, inspire and support the planting of the orchards.

We’ll also deliver Drama Artist led creative workshops in spring and autumn 2024, working with local children to create informal performances inspired by Scotland’s orchard heritage.

Community Involvement

We will engage volunteers in Pollok to co-design and deliver an Orchard Planting Day Celebration event on 30 November 2024, involving fruit tree planting, skills workshops, presentations of children’s performances, apple themed activities and performances of The Forgotten Orchard. We will deliver Orchard Pruning & Aftercare Workshops, led by experienced horticulturist Andrew Lear, in winter 2024-25.
